Cats Rule Yahoo! Sports League Categories. Louisville: Not So Much

Yahoo! Sports released their all league teams today and , wouldn't ya know it, the Cats ruled the SEC. John Wall, Patrick Patterson and DeMarcus Cousins were all voted on to the first team. John Calipari was named coach of the year and John Wall picked up two more awards as player of the year and freshman of the year. Impressive.

Other players on the SEC first team were USC's Devan Downey (gag) and Jarvis Varnado (you don't make me gag but your fans do).

As for the Big East side of things, no Louisville players garnered a position on the first team, the second team or the third team. According to this article, Edgar Sosa should be first team, taking a spot away from Scottie Reynolds or at least on the second team taking spots from Andy Rautins, Jerome Dyson, or Austin Freeman. Really? I don't think so.

There was one Louisville name on the list, albeit this individual is a former Cardinal and not on this year's roster. Who is it? Non other than Derrick Caracter. He was named as the most improved player not in one of the big six conferences. Do you think Ricky is second guessing himself? Maybe Derrick Caracter would be less afraid of those "little guys" guarding him than Samardo Samuels.

  1. Why the gag on Devan Downey? And where is Bledsoe on that list?

  2. Bledsoe is saving his time for next year. Let the veteran and one-n-dones have their time.

Bledsoe, Brandon Knight, and CJ Leslie will be on the Yahoo! list next year for the Cats.

  3. Isn't Bledsoe still considered a first-rounder? There's a good chance he may not be around next year if he's projected still in that round...guys wanna get paid and with the possibility of a Lockout in 2011, guys wanna get in and get that guaranteed cash before either a lockout or rule changes...just a thought. Personally I HOPE he leaves, haha.

  4. Bledsoe isn't going anywhere. His stock has dropped over the last few games. He is in some sort of funk. He ended up being a bigger headcase than Boogie!

  5. Why do you all call Cousins "Boogie"? And if Cousins, Patterson, and Wall all have nicknames, what is Bledsoe's?

My suggestion is "The Mouth" because he likes to run it....a lot.

  6. Boogie asked the media at his press conference to give him a nickname and then they decided Boogie would be it. It has stuck and all of us UK fans have been calling him Boogie since.

Bledsoe does not have a nickname. But whatever mouth he runs he can usually back it up. Please watch the Louisville game as an example.

  8. I remember the game, but I believe the jawing was started by your boy in red.

  9. Of course! That was pretty close to the response I expected.

What's your explanation for Coach Cal mouthing off then?

  10. He was sticking up for his player. Pitino's thug tactics were quite frustrating. It seems like his plan from the get-go was to get at least one player from UK kicked out of the game. It started pregame with Smith and Knoweles motuhing off to Cousins and then Smith purposfully bumping into Cousins twice. The first time Cousins laughed it off and then the second time Smith went out of his way to do it again ,it escalated.

Did the Cats overreact? Yes, but it wasn't like they were unprovoked. The UofL players were acting like punks before the game and you can't deny that. They refused to shake the hands of the UK players before the game and show any type of sportsmanship. You can say what you want about the Cats but the Cards werent innocent bystanders in the matter.
