The SEC announced their All-SEC teams this afternoon. As expected, the Cats are very well represented throughout. Here's a look at the most noteable awards. However, it looks like Calipari was hosed. Kevin Stallings? Really???

Tony Mitchell: Alabama,
Marshawn Powell: Arkansas,
Kenny Boyton: Florida,
Eric Bledsoe: Kentucky,
DeMarcus Cousins: Kentucky,
John Wall: Kentucky,
Reginald Buckner: Ole Miss,

Devan Downey, USC,
Wayne Chism, Tennessee,

Freshman of the Year:
Demarcus Cousins, Kentucky
Cousins was one of just two players to average a double-double in league play. The 6-11 freshman had 18 double-doubles this season.

Defensive Player Of The Year:

Jarvis Varnado, Miss. State
Varnado's 148 blocks this season rank second nationally and are the fifth-highest single-season total in SEC history.

Coach of the Year:

Kevin Stallings, Vanderbilt

Player of the Year:
John Wall, Kentucky
Wall garnered SEC Player of the Year honors in leading Kentucky to a 29-win season and the SEC Championship. He becomes just the second freshman to be named SEC Player of the Year, joining LSU's Chris Jackson, who won in 1989.

  1. Woww, Kevin Stallings. Are you kidding me? Cal took a non-tournament team to a #1 seed in one season. Vandy was in the tourney last year.

And my dream came true from my post earlier this morning: Boogie with the freshman of the year and Wall with player of the year.

It's cool to see Patterson get two nods and cool to see Bledsoe get some good publicity.

Let's see how they do in the SEC tourney and the NCAA!

  2. Yes, I guess Cal should try and make more SEC friends then NBA cronies.

This probably engraves Jim Boeheim's name on National Coach's trophy.

  3. No doubt Jimmy B gets it. Cal was robbed.
