The bottom feeders of the Big East started tournament play last night. Here follows the results of the games:
Cincinnati def. Rutgers- 69-68
Seton Hall def. Providence-109-106
St. John's def. Uconn- 73-51
South Florida def. DePaul- 58-49
The big story here is the total gag job that the Uconn pulled against St. John's. The Huskies HAD been playing well but that was before the loss to Louisville at home. The seemed to deliver the knock-out blow to the season for Jim Calhoun and gang. It seems that they had folded up their tents and decided to go home early.
Today's Games at Madison Square Garden:
South Florida vs. #22 Georgetown 12:00 p.m.
St. John's vs. Marquette 2:00 p.m.
Seton Hall vs. Notre Dame 7:00 p.m.
Cincinnati vs. Louisville 9:00 p.m.
Can St. John's continue to feed off the New York City crowd and grab another victory? Can South Florida guard Dominique Jones outplay Georgetown guard Austin Freeman? Will Luke Harangody be a factor against Seton Hall and their scoring machine Jeremy Hazell? And, in the night cap, will Louisville continue their performance from Saturday against Syracuse and defeat Cincinnati?
The picks:
Georgetown over South Florida by 10
Marquette over St. John's by 6
Seton Hall over Notre Dame by 2
Louisville over Cincinnati by 15
Louisville by 15? Really?
