A Rebuttle: Why I Hate the University of Louisville

Ok, there are certain things about the University of Louisville that I absolutely hate, but not everything. If a certain poster wants to talk about obnoxious fans then I can go toe to toe.
Item 1: After both Syracuse victories I couldn't tell you how many Louisville fans came out of the woodwork, especially this past win. After both games I received text messages and Facebook wall posts from Louisville fans telling me how great Louisville is and how Louisville would beat UK a second time if they played again. Give me a break. I didn't receive any of those phone calls after the loss to Western Carolina, St. Johns, Marquette, Georgetown or any of the other 11 losses that Louisville suffered this season. Talk about pompous and arrogant. Look, I understand they beat Syracuse but that doesn't make them God's gift to basketball and erase everything that happened in the previous games. UK beat UofL this season by 9 and it shouldn't have been that close. Louisville didn't even get into double digits until the 8 minute mark. UK is much, much better this year. Get over yourselves.
Item 2: I work part time at a sporting goods store so I see a good number of both fans walk through the door. Many UK fans have really nothing to say about the UofL merchandise in the store. But many UofL fans come walking through the door exclaiming, "Get this garbage off the walls", or "Who gives a shi*t about UK!" There are also Louisville fans that I have watched games with that openly cheer for the other team. Monster Mash was with me two times when that happened. Both were at BW3's. One time this jackass we both know came in when UK was undefeated in football and played a Thursday night game against South Carolina. The bar was full of UK fans and he was cheering loudly for South Carolina and dogging UK the whole time while wearing his UofL stuff. Major tool. The other time was this past football season where a guy was sitting in the bar cheering against UK the whole time. The manager almost kicked him out he was being so obnoxious. And if you don't believe me about the UofL fans at the store come in and ask anybody that works there. I work with an IU fan, an Arkansas fan and a UNC fan that all notice the same thing.
Item 3: UofL fans are the most fair weather fans I have ever seen in my life. When they are doing well in football then they claim to be a football school. When they are sucking at football and doing good at basketball then they are a basketball school and they don't care about football. They don't show up to games if the team isn't any good and they leave early anytime they are getting beat by a sizable margin. Yes, UK has sucked at football pretty bad in the past but the stadium was always full. The last two years in basketball have been rough (that's before the Cal era) but we cheered for our players, maybe not the coach, but we were there for every game and even brought a huge number of fans to the NIT games. I understand hating the coach and being upset that you're team isn't winning, but at least go to the games and show you're support for the athletes and your team.
Item 4: I get so sick of hearing "Coach Cal cheats", blah, blah, blah. Look at your own coach and your own players before you even start slinging any mud. That's all I am saying on that matter.
Item 5: Exactly what has UofL done? They have won 2 national titles. They have won one Orange bowl. Big deal. UofL fans act like they are the end all be all of college athletics. The phrase "The Best College Sports Town in America" was an absolute joke. Really? Better than Gainsville? Better than Southern Cal? Better than Knoxville? Better than Lexington? Give me a break. And that awful sign on the way back from Lexington that reads "Miles Ahead". What exactly are they "Miles Ahead" of? Can someone please explain to me? I also get tired of hearing how much the SEC sucks in basketball. In the last 20 years the SEC has more national titles than the Big East in basketball and has the same amount this decade. I also get tired of hearing that SEC football is overrated. 4 straight national titles and a majority of W's in bowl games seem to prove otherwise.
Item 5: The downplaying of anything UK has done before the 1970's pisses me off to no extent. Do Louisville fans even know that their first Final Four was in 1959? If UK's doesn't count then does that? Here's the deal: it isn't just Kentucky fans that recognize the Championships and the Final Fours, the NCAA does along with everybody else in college sports.
Item 6: The claim that UK is racist is even more frustrating. UK was the first SEC school in football and basketball to admit black players and Rupp was the basketball coach during that time. UK was the first school to hire a black head coach in basketball and the second to hire a black coach in football. Does UK have a shameful past regarding race relations? Yes, but so have many schools, especially in the south.
Again, it's not all UofL fans but there are many that are complete tools and jerks. It goes both ways Favre. You and I can debate this for days and weeks and months and never agree on anything. I just thought I would give you a little taste of you're own medicine.

  1. I think the one thing that you all should agree on is that there are shitty fans everywhere. Both of these articles are preaching to the choir. And Boogie is a borderline bad UK fan. Just sayin'

  2. Haha, I agree T-Ferg. I was just giving the other side of it. I am borderline but my recent articles about UofL have been very favorable towards the Cards.

  3. Boogie, could you please format your post. I can't read these huge paragraphs that run together.... we only need one line to separate the paragraphs, but really we just need consistency.

  4. I didn't even read this post, but I know I can agree with everything said!

  5. Easy there BoogerWooger...You said that you were responding to my article. Yours here is more about how you hate UL fans and how there are a percentage of them that are tools and morons. I said in my own article the same thing about UL fans...each fanbase has an abundant amount of assholes.

My article is more on things that UK has done, especially in regards to football, over the years to warrant my dislike of them. The only part I talked about the fans at all is how those toolboxes at the final Freedom Hall game showed up donning UK gear and cheering for the Cuse, AT THE GMAE, and then the morons who wanted to re-name Commonwealth to Rich Brooks Field.

Another example I left out in my disdain for UK piece is that when Spurrier came back from the NFL he said the words that he'd "like to coach at a school like Kentucky." The fans at the time (yourself included) HATED Brooks and wanted him out of there. Why on earth did the school not can him for a HUGE name like Spurrier? Because they didn't want to pay him. Granted, they've put up almost the same records since that time, but we all know UK is even a higher profile football school than South Carolina. Spurrier would have done amazing at UK.

Granted, I'm GLAD they dropped the ball on that one, but it's another example on how UK is focused totally on the basketball aspect when they are sitting on an un-developed gold mine that is their football program.

  6. I think our football program is coming along just fine. As far as Brooks is concerned, yes we were upset with him at first but with time he turned the program around. What if Krags would have done the same thing? What if he had finally had everything in place that he needed this year for a winning program? We'll never know because he is gone.

I am not blaming UofL for getting rid of him but yuo can't blame us for wanting to get rid of Brooks early on. He was in his final season when things started turning around and we beat the likes of Louisville, LSU, Georgia, Arkansas and many other teams that we were having trouble beating. Again, what if Krags would have had this one last year to right the ship?

  7. Sorry about the format anonymous! I was so angry while writing this article that I neglected to seperate the paragraphs!

Not really. I seperated them but when I posted it the spaces were gone. Sorry about that.
