Da Bears get some Pepper for thier D and other quick NFL notes

Some quick notes on the NFL this morning on this huge day for college basketball:

Former Carolina Panthers defensive end Julius Peppers signed a monster deal with the Chicago Bears yesterday. The freakish athlete will hopefully bring some youth (kind of) to an older Dears defensive. Read more about his signing as well as the signing of Vikings running back Chester Taylor here.

This is seen as a make or break year for Lovie Smith and the rest of his staff. Last year they brought in Jay Cutler at quarterback and he had a less than stellar year with 27 TDs and 26 INTs with a QB rating of 76.8. I'm not a big Bears fan but somebody closely affiliated with me is so I am writing this for her.

In other Panthers news, they just released quarterback Jake Delhomme. He is the only quarterback to lead the relatively young franchise to a Super Bowl in 2004 against the New England Patriots. The Panthers lost the game but signed Jake Delhomme to a massive contract and last year gave him an extension on that contract. By cutting him they just gave him $12.5 million for not playing quarterback. Nice.

In MORE Panthers news, Mike Vick has expressed interest in playing for the Panthers. Why the Panthers? He said on the Gansta Grillz Radio Program that he likes the Panthers uniforms and he wants to play against Atlanta twice a year to stick it to them. Yeah, like the city of Atlanta ran an illegal dog fighting ring and murdered helpless animals. I think Coach Cal's favorite term of endearment applies here: Jag-Off.

Anquan Boldin has flown the coop from one bird mascoted team to another. Boldin was just traded from the Arizona Cardinals to the Baltimore Ravens. He makes a decent offense in Baltimore very good. Joe Flacco is in his third year at the offensive helm and has lakced a big game wide receiver. He already has a big game running back tandem with veteran Willisn McGahee and Ray Rice as well as the Stormin' Mormon and first round fantasy draft pick Todd Heap. Look for the Ravens to be damn good next year.

Final note: All four college game day analysts picked Syarcuse to be Da Ville in the Freedom Hall Finale. That's not surprising. What I found interesting is that I think Hubert Davis reads this blog and rips off my analysis. He said that Syracuse will win because they will have monster games from Onuaku and Jackson from the inside. That's right folks. I'm better than Hubert Davis. You heard it here first from Sportsthat.

Final Final note: If the Gangsta Grillz Radio Program can start off as a blog and then blossom into a radio program with guests like Mike Vick then so can we. Just Sayin'.

  1. Looks like you were wrong, Boogiewoogie. Cards handled their business vs. the #1 team in the nation. In some circles, that's called a sweep!! But, let me guess: to the Big Blue Nation, that just means that Syracuse isn't very good then, right?

  2. No, I still think Syracuse is good. Louisville played well at home against them and swept them. I'm confused everytime Louisville hits the floor. Sometimes they look great, other times they look awful. I still don't think they are very good. Pitino has Boeheims number and that cannot be argued. Louisville has been beaten by some bad teams and have been blown out by some middle of the road teams. I think they can play well at times but they still aren't very good. I don't think you can count on Kuric having a game like that everytime. Props to him, he was awesome, but I doubt he becomes Louisville's go to guy. They still need to rely on Sosa and Samuels.

Plus it's not like I was the only person wrong about this. 100% of the college game day crew picked The Orange, many Louisville fans were expecting a loss, Louisville just came from an embarassing blow out against Marquette and Syracuse has looked really, really good lately. Louisville took advantage of a wonderful crowd, a good game plan and an unexpected burst from an unexpected player.
