Now that the Winter Olympics are over and done with we can focus entirely on the final week of the college basketball regular season.
3/2 9:30 p.m.- Louisville at Marquette: Louisville and Marquette both look to be in the NCAA tournament after key victories this weekend. I picked Louisville to lose against GTown, lose against UConn and win against Marquette. Being that I was wright 1 out of 2 times so far, I am not going to change my pick. I think Louisville goes into Marquette and gets a win, essentially sealing their fate as an NCAA lock.
3/3 8:00 p.m.- Kentucky at Georgia: Georgia just came off of a hard fought 2 point win against the bubblicious Gators in Athens on Saturday. The Dawgs have been hanging tough all year despite a less than stellar 13-14 overall record. With wins over Georgia Tech (middle of the road ACC team), Tennessee and Vanderbilt, and along with a hard fought 8 point loss at Rupp, look for the Dawgs to come out fighting at home.
The question is whether or not the Cats can bounce back after that abysmal first half performance at UT. Look for the Cats to come out firing on all cylinders.
3/7 12:00 p.m.- Florida at Kentucky: It's senior day at Rupp. The last time the Cats hosted a senior day it was against Georgia at home and the game was a loss. Thank you very much Billy Clyde. Billy Donovan is bringing in his NCAA tournament questionable Gators into Rupp arena looking to snag one more resume building W for the committee to chew on. Not gonna happen. UK is going to play hard to honor seniors Ramon Harris and Perry "Prairie Dog" Stevenson.
I also think that John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins and Patrick Patterson should be honored since it will be their last game at Rupp as well (single tear drop).
3/8 12:00 p.m.- Syracuse at Louisville: And now we are finally down to it. The (likely but not assured) last game at Freedom Hall. The place will be electric (insert Jennings joke here). The two lone championship teams from Louisville's storied (?) past will be there to be honored. Senior standout guards Jerry Smith and Edgar Sosa will be honored for their last games and Pitino will be grateful to have two less headaches to worry about. The new #1 team in the country will be there to face off against the Cards in their Freedom Hall Finale.
All the pomp and circumstance will be for nought. The mighty Orange will avenge their earlier loss and dismantle the Cards by 20.
There you have it! Enjoy these great games this week! I a sure there are other things going on in the sports world (NBA, golf, MMA, WWE, NASCAR) but I don't really care.
I believe the Cards fans have two things to enjoy from this article -
ReplyDelete1) the giant target/circle on John Walls crotch
2) The final game in Freedom Hall being a loss...
Wannn Waaaaaaa
