HUH????

If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around, does it make a sound?

How about if a basketball scrimmage takes place and no one is there to witness it, does it really even count?

You may have heard the first question in elementary school when discussing how sound travels and requires an object to bounce off of in order to actually be heard. The second one however, may not be as familiar to the average person.

I ask the second question strictly out of curiosity. Can anyone explain to me how a team that has the #1 recruiting class for 2010, has an overly obsessive fan-base that camps out for weeks on end for a Midnight practice, and has the "Almighty" (LOL) John Calipari as coach only get a measly 10,000 fans out for the Blue-White scrimmage? I mean this is a team that had an amazing run to the Final Fou...oh wait, only Elite 8 (but it's not celebrated), and had 5 First round NBA draft picks this past June. This is also a team that is waiting on pins and needles for word that their big Turkish professional will be granted access to play in the US for free.

In contrast, the so-called "Little Brother" in Louisville had over 21,000 fans show up for the Red-White scrimmage. For you math pros out there, that is a solid 10,000 MORE fans than the greatest team in college basketball got.

So to Boogiewoogie and his partner-in-crime Ryan Shooter, let me hear your reasoning here. Better yet, let's turn this around and make fun of U of L for something completely unrelated to this topic. Because it just wouldn't be right if either of you stayed on topic with your comments.

By the way, Dieng is officially eligible, and no grades had to be changed for this to happen. #Where'sEnes #Where'sEnes #Where'sEnes #Where'sEnes #Where'sEnes

  1. I'm pretty sure there was a tornado warning being sounded on campus as the game was tipping (the same one that blew through DT Louisville and stopped work in my office for 30 minutes)... coupled with heavy rain, wind, etc. and no one was on campus, yet alone in an old arena.

  2. Can we also say that ... as the CJ put it, the only reason that many fans went to see the Cards is because it was on Sunday (not a Tuesday) and it was to see the new arena. http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2010310120069 I am impressed though that the Cards sold the event out.

  3. I can tell you, the storm warnings and it was during the week and not on a weekend. I drove from Louisville, my son was going to go but he had work the next day. Do it on a Saturday night and they will have more people.

  4. Another thing, that 'other' school had a new chicken bucket they wanted to see, some of them will only see it during that time so they all went. Nothing else for those people to do in that town.

  5. Monster Mash and our new friend Louvavullgal summed it up. But I will say congrats to Little Brother for selling out a scrimmage game. Let's compare season attendance, W's and who goes further in the tourney this season.

As for Dieng, I have stated ON THIS BLOG that I am happy for Dieng and the NCAA made the right decision. But #InelColeman and #InelSallie ain't changing anytime soon.

#WheresTeague, #WheresMiller, #WheresBello, #WheresWrotenJr, #WheresHood. UK can get top 10 recruits the old fashioned way. No accepting of convicts that break defensless women's spines in front of one year old children here! There is your unrelated Louisville jab. Your Welcome. Have a Nice Day!

  6. This is coming from the same fan base that has to beg and plead for their fans to show up on time for football games? The same fan base that doesn't have enough support for midnight madness so it had to be canceled? You don't think a brand new facility had anything to do with it? You might be the only person in the world hyped up for UofL basketball this year.... That being said, you are still writing post comparing yourself to UK... typical little brother behavior. UK will always be your measuring stick. Until you get to 7 National Titles, just stay on the bottom bunk where you belong.

  7. Not to mention the same fan base that had to GIVE AWAY tickets to a football game last year. Rutgers game anyone?????

  11. Thank you to Monster Mash, Louavullgal, and slightly Boogiewoogie for actually staying on topic. As usual, the Shooter missed the target completely by discussing U of L football, which this post had nothing to do with. Keep swinging for the fences though buddy, you might make contact one of these days!

I admit that the threat of storms was a valid reason for a low turnout, but I do NOT buy the week night bs. UK claims to have the most passionate fanbase in all of college basketball, so a Tuesday night scrimmage shouldn't be any different than one on Sunday. I mean, Coach Calipari takes a #1 ranked crap and he gets more than 10,000 fans there to comment on it. That's a ridiculous excuse.

As far as the inclement weather, why wouldn't UK either postpone or reschedule the event? Surely, the Athletic Department could have rearranged plans to play the game when there wasn't any bad weather.
