Hello World.

Hello there, nice to meet you. I would like to introduce myself as your newest blogger on SportsThat. My name is Ryan and I am a sports-aholic. Now with all the pleasantries out of the way, let's get down to business.

Let me be the first to tell you that my grammar will suffer, my spell check will undoubtedly have no clue what I'm trying to spell and my sentences will look like a third grader constructed them after eating play-dough and paste. With that being said, I hope to offer a funny side to sports with some inside knowledge to the UK athletics inter-workings.

After years and years of sending Tubby Smith faxes (which I assume he lost on his desk), going on beer runs for Billy Clyde (he likes Natty Light) and hiding in the dumpsters outside of Wildcat Lodge, I consider myself the ultimate UK fan. So... I'd like to give you a little piece of info that I received last night:

I know it has been talked about for years that Rupp Arena is going to be replaced. Well it seems like it is finally going to happen. The city of Lexington and the University of Kentucky are in the early stages of building a state of the art downtown arena. Yes, I know we've all heard this before, but it seems like with the addition of the Grease Bucket 70 miles or so up the road, that steps are finally in place to make sure the Cats aren't playing second fiddle to anyone. As most of you know the University leases the rights to use Rupp Arena, that lease expires in 2018, making Rupp Arena 42 years old. Preliminary plans are for the arena to hold between 24-28 thousand people. The construction is scheduled to take place in a parking lot located across the street from Rupp.

I am told that the arena is scheduled to open in the year 2014 or 2015. Just in time for UK's 12th National Championship!

So, good blogger readers, what say you? Let's hear the best names for our new arena.

I personally think Champions Coliseum has a nice ring to it.
