While Rick Pitino may have looked like
a ghost he had seen a ghost on Derby Day,
yesterday he was back to old form. Ok, by "Old Form" I mean, sounding like a guy that is 10 years past his prime and in the midst of turning a mediocre team into a Tom Jurich Nightmare - think zombies, empty seats, new stadium and people eat meat sandwiches - during a press conference.
In new Rick Pitino fashion, unrelated to his clothing, he gave sound-byte after sound-byte where
he dished nicknames and inside scoop on the Samardo Samuels departure.
--At the 2:30 mark,
Ricky talks about "The Bullet," his newest scholarship acceptant,
Elijah Justice. He then goes to refer to him as "The Bullet" at 3:30. A moment of irony, considering UL fans may just want to bring their own versions of Bullets to games - be it Coors beer to drown their sorrows, the kind to load into a chamber to dismiss their worries of a woe some team, or simply have the bullet Elijah Justice close and use him
against Rick in his transformation into a Warewolf with the loss of the top two guards .
--At 5:34 Rick also talks about Terrence "Don't Tase me Bro" Jennings and the new role
in the shadow as the replacement for Samardo Samuels. Apparently, Jennings has now gotten on the good side of Pitino (the opposite side he shows to Karen Sypher) and with playing time open and readily available, looks to be in the starter role going forward... at least until he leaves for the Caribbean Basketball League with Samardo and Antoine Walker next season.
