John Calipari is a cheater
Yeah, I said it. And apparently I'm not the only one who thinks so. Go ahead and type in "John Calipari is a cheater" and Google Search returns with 3,850 results*. For good measure, replace "John Calipari" with just "Calipari" and you get 5,570 results.
* For comparison, "Rick Pitino is a cheater" returns slightly over 2,000 results. But, seriously, who's the bigger cheater?
Kentucky fans are delusional and think that there are so many discussions on this because they are the talk of college basketball and everyone wants to be them. But if you look even closer, a lot of these stories were written before Calipari even stepped foot on UK's campus. Rewind the tape to three years ago, and I'd like to see a show of hands from the Big Blue Nation on how many people actually wanted this guy to take the reins of "Camelot".
An earlier post from Boogiewoogie talked about how no one likes a cheater. Then why do UK fans fawn over every Twitter update, Facebook post, and spoken word from this cheater? If two vacated Final Fours (I know, Coach Cal is clean in both cases, LOL) aren't enough, he now has to go and tamper with other school's verbal commits?
Terrence Jones is just the latest in this bucket. While the kid verbals to Washington, he has the courtesy to call Calipari and tell him of his decision. After hanging up the phone, Jones goes from being a solid verbal to on the fence. I wonder what made him sway?
Before that, you had Coach Calipari reaching out to Elisha Justice, Kentucky's Mr. Basketball. Justice had given a verbal commitment to Pitino and the Cards a few months ago, but Calipari tried to sway him to the Cats.
Then, you had the whole Memphis to UK pipeline that he created when he bolted the Tigers for the Bluegrass.
Enjoy Calipari while you can, but don't come crying on this blog when karma bites you in the a**!

Can you really say "solid verbal" since the kid says he didn't know who he was going to pick until his hand reached out for the hats?
ReplyDeleteObviously he never knew where he wanted and set a premature deadline. Verbal yes, Solid Verbal... i disagree.
BTW: "Rick Pitino Cheater" returns 18,800 results while "John Calipari Cheater" returns 3,550... now while I don't know how to exclude Karen Sypher from the results - that's 600% more. So is Rick (who has NCAA violations attached to his name) 6x more of a cheater?
In related news, this article shows the unwavering support that UK fans have been showing to one of their boys in blue...

Yes T-Ferg. The same support UofL fans are showing 2 Sam:http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=17&f=2755&t=5921160
ReplyDeleteAnd former almost Cardinal Teague and Pitino after Teague went to UK, read the comments: http://www.cardchronicle.com/2010/4/22/1437092/teague-to-kentucky
And I have spoken to many Cards fans after the decision he made to leave and most of them had really ugly things to say about him. The same thing with Teague. He was the second coming when he was going to UofL but the minute he jumped ship to UK then the UofL fans were saying, "he sucks anyway" and many other things. We could do this all day if you want to.
Some more Samuels love from Cards fans:
ReplyDeleteIt's funny I looked back to Samardo’s class. He was listed #9 and the note they had said “Automatic double double guy”. We Wish!

The difference here guys is this: U of L fans can admit that Pitino is a cheater in his personal life. Can any UK fans take off their blue colored glasses and admit that Calipari is a cheater?
ReplyDeleteThat, my friends, should be the next blog post from Boogiewoogie or Monster Mash. Too bad it won't happen.
Can you admit that Pitino is also a cheater in his professional life as is evidenced by his 8 NCAA infractions? These infractions are personally credited to Ricky 3 Stacks for multiple things such as providing money for recruits, providing air fare for recruits, providing meals and clothing for recruits, etc...
ReplyDeleteAgain, Cal has not PERSONALLY been sanctioned by the NCAA. Cards fans should take off the red tinted glasses and remeber the way they loathed and despised Pitino while at UK, as they called him a cheater, dirty, unfair, all of the labels they now apply to Cal.
You say in your above post how UK fans talked bad about Cal while at Memphis but I heard nothing good coming out about Pitino while he was coaching at UK from Louisville fans. So, let's rewind 15 years ago and see how many Cards fans wanted Pitino taking the reins in Card Country.
You write the story on Pitino being dirty as a coach and I will write the Cal story.
Okay, let's stay hung up on Pitino's infractions from back in the day. You know who hired Pitino first out of our two schools, even with the knowledge that he had infractions on his record? Kentucky did -- does that mean they looked the other way when he was hired to revive "Kentucky's Shame"?
ReplyDeleteU of L hired Pitino because he was available, showed an interest, and had success at the college level.
If he was such a bad cheater as you claim, why did UK even hire him in the first place? He was clean at UK and he's clean at U of L - professionally.
But go ahead and proclaim the 8 infractions like you always do, but at least admit that either UK looked the other way when they hired him, or that was in the past and isn't relevant anymore. You can't have it both ways, so make a choice.
Most of us college basketball fans (Kentucky fans excepted) believe that Calipari cheated at UMass and Memphis. I don't believe he cheats at Kentucky, because he has been rewarded for his cheating by being given a dream job at a school where you don't have to cheat to get fine recruits. To say that Calipari is "personally" clean of infractions is like saying that OJ Simpson is "personally" clean of murder. Okay, so who's buying that...
