Calipari can break commitments like Houdini broke handcuffs.
It has been 3 days and no word on the Terrence Jones situation. However, there have been more than a few words shed on the subject. Here are the latest takes from the Northwest.- Yesterday the Seattle Times had a few notes on Jones. Steve Kelley of the Times speculates that Cal told him not to go to UW. In fine print he says:
"Who knows what the Kentucky coach told Jones? Who knows what suggestions and promises were made? Who knows what game-changing strategy Calipari was employing? With Calipari, there is always room for suspicion."
Thus, the small print gave him the ability in the main body of the article to examine, decipher, and depict what occurred on the call. Based on his decoder ring, he concludes Cal swindled his way into another top recruit's heart and might as well forged his signature for the Cats.
- I like the News Tribune's take in that Washington shouldn't wait for Terrence Jones anymore since his "decision" was indecisive. The article ignores the fact that the kid was surrounded by hundreds of people (some of which are his best friends and family) who want him to go to UW and he chose to do so. It ignores that he hadn't made the most important professional decision in his life until surrounded by those people. It just says, if he is indecisive now, why would we want him to stick around.
UW can ask Kansas if Xavier Henry (the most indecisive pre-Madonna ever) was worth waiting on. For a school on the border of being good next year after a surprise sweet 16 run, a good player could help keep them in the mix for future blue-chip players. If UW can wait for success, the have the leisure of passing up top talent.
Wow, what will BBN do if TJ spurns them just like CJ did? Who's going to back up that (in)eligible kid from Turkey when he gets in foul trouble or tired?
ReplyDeleteWhile the "greatest class in the history of the NCAA" is still a year away, how does Coach Cal address next year's squad? That empty cupboard hasn't filled up as quickly as everyone banked on, and your most prized recruit has dropped in the rankings.
What's really going on in Lexington???
