News Flash: Yankees beat Red Sox!

Yankees beat the Red Sox tonight on a walk-off homer by Marcus Thames off closer Jonathan Papelbon. While it's still early in this season, that now makes the Yankees 5-2 against the Sox on the year.

However, if you go back to the 2nd half of last season when the Bronx Bombers took 9 of 10 from the Sox, that now makes 14 of the last 17. And with the Red Sox countering CC Sabathia with Josh Beckett and his 7.46 ERA tomorrow night, I look for the Yankees to make that 15 of 18.

Now, don't get me wrong, I am definitely not a Yankee lover or Red Sox hater, but facts are facts. Plus, the Yankees have been on ESPN's Sunday/Monday/Wednesday Night baseball slot more than any other team this year, it's hard to avoid hearing about them.

For the Sox, tonight's loss drops them one game under .500 for the first time since May 8th. Additionally, it appears that the Yankees have their number right now, and with the Rays playing the best baseball, the best I see the Red Sox managing this season is 3rd place.

But, who cares about the American League anyway? How about those Red Legs?

  1. The Red Sox pitching sucks. And yes, Cincy is looking damn good.
