Here's the real news:
- Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver fell short - way short - of the Triple Crown yesterday, as Lookin at Lucky pulled off the Preakness win. Super Saver had position at the third turn but lost it well before the finish and had nothing to give jokey Calvin Borel - finishing 8th.
- Cleveland Cavs Coach Mike Brown is being 'evaluated' to determine if he will remain with the team next season. It is rumored that the decision will come fast as Brown's contract has a clause that says if Brown is terminated within 10 days of the season end, he will only receive 50% of his remaining contracted salary.
- The University of Kentucky has contacted Illinois assistant coach Jerrance Howard in regards to the opening of the spot once held by Rod Strickland. Howard worked at Kentucky under Billy Gillispie in an administrative capacity and seems to be the #2 choice for the Cats only behind one-time Cardinal Kenny Payne.
- The Kentucky Christian Basketball Mission to China took flight this week. Louisville coach Ricky "3 stacks" Pitino talked about the 9 games played in two weeks with the Courier-Journal.
“A lot of people think we have a lot of question marks, and we certainly do, but the biggest question mark is him. Can he come in and do the things that a point guard needs to do? I think he can, so the more experience he can get doing it is beneficial to us.”
Rick then threw a friendly shot at his former employer when asked if Siva would pick up any bad habits playing in a different system, Pitino said, “Well, there are a couple of UK guys on the team, so I am concerned about that.”
