LeBron's Effort Not Enough

The NBA is the best professional league if you want to look at individual stars. There are plenty to choose from: Kobe Bryant, Dwight Howard, Deron Williams and LeBron James, just to name a few. But when it comes down to it, it still is a team sport and a team cannot win with just one guy, no matter how great he is.

The Boston Celtics are just a better team than the Cleveland Cavaliers. Period. The Cavs have arguably the best player in the game but his effort was not enough to beat three future hall-of-famers and one of the fastest rising stars in the NBA. The Cavs just do not have the man power or the bench. This might lead to the departure of LeBron.

But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Let's focus on last night's game. LeBron bounced back big time from a horrible game 5 performance. Last night he scored 27, dished out 10 assists and grabbed 19 rebounds. Mo Williams scored 22 and that was about it for the Cavs. The Celtics had two players go for double-doubles; Kevin Garnett had 22 points and 12 rebounds while Rondo continued to impress everyone with 21 points and 12 assists.

Rondo stole LeBron's star right out of the sky. The series that began being about LeBron ended being about Rajon Rondo. His epic triple-double in game 4 will go down in Celtic lore as one of the greatest playoff performances ever. And we are talking about a team that once had Larry Bird and Bill Russell. The Celtics locked up Rondo in a new contract at the beginning of the season. He is going to be making Celtics fans happy for a long, long time.

LeBron has to be devastated. This was supposed to be his year. Last year was supposed to be his year. He has to be debating whether or not his year is ever going to come in Cleveland at all. The fan base was in full support of him until his epic meltdown. He has failed to live up to his MVP status in the playoffs. But if you asked any Cleveland fan whether or not they want the King to stay or go, I would venture to say that 99% of them would say stay. He is all that city has.
