Athlon Yearbooks has started releasing their national Top 25.
It's a slow news day but a day most people are spending with their mother as today is Mother's Day! You few readers need a afternoon (ok evening) article to read while you are fighting with siblings and parents spending that 'quality' time with the family. Athlon is coming out with their season outlook and here's how the local schools stackedup:
UK is the highest-rated local team with coach Joker Phillips at the helm in his first season. The Wildcats ranked 51st by Athlon in the Football Bowl Subdivision and in the Southeastern Conference East Division - fifth, only above perennial bottom feeder Vanderbilt.
IU ranks 73rd in the country and ahead of only Minnesota in the Big Ten.
UofL, under new coach Charlie Strong, is listed as 79th in the FBS and rounds up the bottom of the Big East.
Western Kentucky is ranked last in the Sun Belt. At No.119, the Hilltoppers are next-to-last in the FBS, leading Eastern Michigan, which is coached by former UofL defensive coordinator Ron English
