The Word of the Day is Guilty and Other News

Is anybody that surprised? I am shocked that it took the jury this long to come to their verdict. I guess they had to decide which counts to convict her on, which ended up being six: 3 counts of extortion, 2 counts of lying, and one count of retaliation. Sypher deserves every bad thing that comes her way. She may think that Pitino owed her something for knocking her up but the fact is she broke the law. And the fact that she had sex with just about every man she came into contact with didn't help paint her as Mother Theresa. She also made a major mistake by crying rape, this did nothing but further tag her as a crazy person out for vengeance.

This nightmare is over for Rick Pitino. Sort of. He will hear the jokes for the rest of his life, his public speaking career is all but over (he admitted this himself), no more books about how to succeed in life and be a moral person, his recruiting is going to take a hit, he is a laughing stock, his family will forever have to live with this and the University will have a black eye for keeping him around. Pitino acted in a disgusting and dishonest manner, that is indisputable. Let's see if he can pick up the pieces and become half of the coach he once was.

Now that that bit of nastiness (dribble, dribble) is over, let's get on with the news:

The Cats will face Oklahoma in the first round of the Maui Invitational and will face either Virginia or Washington in the second round. I am all for the Cats playing the Huskies! U-Dub has an axe to grind with Kentucky. The Cats have former Washington commits Enes Kanter and Terrence Jones on the roster. Washington point guard Isaiah Thomas has already expressed his desire to face the Cats to get some retaliation. Be careful Isaiah, you can face jail time for that.

UK #1 2011 recruit Mike Gilchrist will be in Lexington this weekend according to his Twitter account. He will be there watching the Cats preparing for the awesome Canada trip.

Ex-Cardinal and current NFL stud Elvis Dumervil has suffered a torn pectoral muscle at Broncos training camp and is out indefinitely. Last year he had an NFL leading 17 sacks. He is expected to miss 4 months. I'm a Cats fan and hate the Cards but I hate when anyone gets injured. Elvis is one helluva player and I hope he has a speedy recovery.

Most of the Sportsthat staff will be attending the Louisville Bats game tonight. If you see one of us and say the word of the day, "guilty", Monster Mash will buy you a beer.
