Sir Cobble, I mean Sir Mister Cobble, you Sir have been declared ineligible...
The Cats football team had their media day today and I have a few updates per Joker on the Twittersphere: 1) QB concerns: The current depth chart says Mike Hartline "or" Newton/Mossakowski. When asked why Hartline was listed at 1, Joker Philips replied "someone has to be." This is going to be a major concern for Kentucky, but I think it's a problem that we have several arms to choose from - I mean, it's much better than not having any.
2) Defense: After losing several key players last year to graduation and to the NFL draft, the Wildcats were counting on a defensive presence from defensive tackle Mister Cobble. While it was already being debated, Cobble was announced by Phillips to be academically ineligible this afternoon. Cobble will remain with the team but will not play this season.
3) Randall Cobb: Phillips stated that Cobb will get some snaps at QB this season. It's an assured way to get Cobb, the Wildcats most explosive offensive player, touches. That always seems like a good deal.
4) Kicking Game: Having been in Commonwealth for the entirety of Lones Seiber's UK career, I watched him go a mere 57% his Freshman and Junior years and while he improved to 68% his Senior season in FG attempts, it was a sweet moment to watch him walk away. Joe Mansour, the newly crowed starting kicker that was a top prospect of the 2010 class in his position, will take the reigns. Mansour, per Joker, is "already walking around like he owns the place." And as far as I'm concerned, as long as he owns the area between the 30 yard line and the field goal post, he can own the rest of the place too.
