Shaq makes old Celtics even older and A-Rod cheats his way to 600

Not much going on in the sporting world today as most of the stories are retreads of older stories, you know Revis, Haynesworth, Brett Favre, yadda, yadda, yadda... But there are three stories that I feel obliged to speak on.

First Up: Shaq is now a Celtic. The starting five will be this: Rajon Rondo, age 24; Paul Pierce, age 32; Ray Allen, age 35; Kevin Garnett, age 34; Shaquille O'Neal, age 38. That makes the average age of Boston's starting 5 to be 31. Spring chickens they are not. One thing they all have is experience and championships. Shaq will be a big help to fill the void left by Kendrick Perkins' knee injury that will keep him out for the first of the year. Shaq-Fu did not impress as a Cav but had a monster game in the first playoff match up against the Bulls. There was an apparent dispute with LeBron James but that is just specualation. If he can stay healthy and become a presence in the middle then Boston may have struck gold.

Next: A-Fraud hit 600 home runs. Raise your hand if you care that this cheater reached a diluted milestone? For the record: my hand is down. Up Yours A-Rod.

Last: Karen Sypher is going to jail for a long, long time. Rick Pitino will be the butt of jokes for a long, long time. And Louisville basketball will continue to be mediocre for a long, long time or until Quick Rick man's up and resigns.

Go Brett Favre! Play 'til your 50!!!

  1. Steroids or no steroids, the guy is still hitting homeruns on a hip and a half. Didn't you just mention the other day that Big Papi is on steroids? And how was Kevin Youkilis able to join that bench-clearing brawl last night being on the DL?

  2. Shaq will also provide one thing the celtics did not have last year . . . easy buckets underneath. The big 3 are all jump shooters at this point in their career, but shaq can get some easy buckets, rebounds, and can defend the rim.

  3. Sorry T-Ferg, I didn't know you were so sensative to the A-Rod issue. Make sure to wear your A-Rod jersey to the Bats game tomorrow.

  4. If that comment makes me an ARod fan, then you need to wear your UofL shirt to the Bats game because you sure do a lot of reporting on the Cards.
