Karen Sypher Trial Day 6b: Prosecution wraps up like Rick Pitino should have

Alright, I feel like utter crap today with only 4 hours of sleep. However, my lack of sleep has the advantage of being an update to yesterdays Karen Sypher trial!

There were a few witnesses that came on in the afternoon, Tyree Fields being the first. Nothing seemed relevant with Tyree Fields' testimony except him just being another person Sypher slept with in the last 8 years, but here's a summary. :

  • The fifth defendant to testify that he had sex with Sypher \
  • Tyree fields was a supervisor for Frito Lay and Federal Express and also a local basketball scout.
  • Fields was a runner in Louisville and often worked with Rick Pitino and the Cardinals concerning local talent.
  • Fields met Sypher in a shopping mall parking lot and shortly there after they began sleeping together.
  • They began 'sleeping' together in 2008, while she was still contemplating divorce from then husband Tim Sypher.
  • Fields met with Louisville assistant Steve Masielo where Stevie Mass questioned Fields over his involvement with Sypher.

Another former lover, and husband of Sypher, Keith Randall testified next:
  • The night U of L lost to Michigan State in the NCAA Tournament, and said: “‘I've got something on Pitino. He's offered me $100,000, but I want a half million.'”
  • Was married to Sypher from 1981 to 1984 and again from 1986 to 2002
  • Randall was married to Sypher and consoled her concerning her dirt on Pitino.
  • He recommended Sypher accept a plea bargain being offered by prosecutors last summer and said Sypher responded, “‘If I am going down, I am going to take Pitino with me.'”

Other witnesses testified Sypher was simply going after Pitino as retaliation for not complying to her demands. This included a WHAS11 news reporter and several Louisville Metor police officers. A two hour video was played showing Sypher's attempt to press charges against Pitino.

Today, the prosecution is expected to wrap up with the remaining two hours of Sypher's complaint to the police. Then the defense is expected to begin their case.
