I'm not one to hand out advice on what to do with one's life...ok, I am. So let me hand some out right now: Peyton Siva, you have great potential to be a premier point guard in the NCAA. Don't ruin it by taking ANY advice from former teammate Edgar Sosa. Yes, that even means advice on doing hot yoga for a workout. Whatever Sosa tells you to do, do the exact opposite. The last thing you want is to become a whiny, me-first, under productive, hated by your own fans diva. I have done the best that I can. Good luck and God bless. P.S. Don't take any dating advice from Rick Pitino. You will end up in a courtroom and telling all the world how long you last during your "love making" sessions. Avoid this at all costs.
Back to the reader: if you read underneath the hot yoga story you will find John Calipari's analysis on new freshman shooting guard Doran Lamb. He compares him to Chris Douglas-Roberts. One thing that was severely lacking in last year's team was a consistent shooter and that was the main reason the Cats fell to WVU in the Elite Eight. There was not a player that could step up and hit an outside jumper. Now the Cats have Lamb and Brandon Knight, two guys known for their perimeter shooting. Now all that we need is the quickness and athleticism that last year's team displayed and we will have a scary good team.
- Stick a fork in the Boston Red Sox, they are done. The Sox do have one more game against the Yankees and can split the four game series at 2 games each. As for now they are 7 games back from the division and four and a half back from the Rays in the Wildcard. The good news is that the Rays have lost 5 straight. The bad news is that the entire Boston team is still banged up and the pitching has been extremely inconsistent.
- Speaking of done, Tiger Woods finished at +18 this weekend. He finished the worst in his career and it looks like, a week ahead of the PGA Championship, that he will not win a tournament this season. He has won the Bridgestone 7 of 11 times that he has played in it. Woods came back too soon. He should have taken the year off but his competitive spirit got in the way. He has been just awful since the return.
- The football Cats drew 6,000 fans this weekend for an open practice and Fan Day. The Cats were not in full pads but the fans were treated to 7 on 7 drills. Mike Hartline is still the QB but if he falters early you can bet that Morgan Newton will be primed and ready to go. At least the Cats have options at quarterback unlike another team I know. A name to become familiar with is Jerell Priester. He is a freshman corner back with blazing speed and he is drawing comparisons to Trevard Lindley.
- Last night was the NFL Hall of Fame game and it felt great to watch some football...for 3 quarters. The thing about these preseason games is that they are fun to watch for a little while but it gets tedious and boring once those first and second stringers take the bench. One interesting thing that I saw last night was the number of times Carson Palmer threw to newly acquired wide receiver Terrell Owens. They were short routes and nothing deep was shown but I think that the plan was to get TO involved and comfortable early. Let's see how Chad Ochocinco reacts if this trend continues in the regular season.
Siva, if you were to take some advice from Sosa, it should be this...
