Boogiwoogie Picks the NFC

This is what Favre is doing right now as I type this. He is preparing to regulate on the rest of the NFC.

Yesterday I selected the order in which each AFC will finish at the end of the season. Here is the list of the NFC teams:

East:
Dallas Cowboys
Washington Redskins
New York Giants
Philadelphia Eagles

I am afraid that the NFC East begins and ends with the Cowboys. The team is stacked on offense and on defense once again. The addition of rookie sensation of Dez Bryant will give Tony Romo plenty of weapons to choose from. Come on! He has Bryant, Roy Williams, Miles Austin, Jason Witten and Patrick Crayton. Not to mention Marion Barber and Felix Jones to tote the ball. The Skins have a new coach and a new quarterback. Mike Shanahan is bringing his two Super Bowl rings and his no nonsense attitude to DC. Donovan McNabb is bringing his NFC title experience and winning attitude. The Redskins will improve but they cannot match the firepower of the 'Boys. The Giants are getting old on both sides of the ball. Eli Manning still does not have Plaxico Burress to throw to and without that he is an average QB at best. Kevin Kolb is not the answer to the Eagle's prayers and they will be a shell of what they have been in the past.

North:
Minnesota Vikings
Green Bay Packers
Chicago Bears
Detroit Lions

This is assuming that Brett Favre will play and I think that he will be taking snaps under center in that first game in New Orleans. A competitor like Favre will find it too tempting to redeem himself in the Super Dome. If he comes back, and he will, all of the essential parts to the Vikings team will be back and you can pencil them in to meet Dallas in the NFC championship game. The Pack Attack would be numero uno if it wasn't for Favre. The offense is good. The defensive front is good. The secondary is old. Yes, I know, Woodson was defensive player of the year. Talk to 2hot about that one. And over Derrell Revis? Please. The Predator (aka Al Harris) is losing his speed. You can throw on the Packers all day long. The Bears are the Bears. Old defense, ineffective offense. I do think that Mike Martz will bring in some new plays and he will maximize Jay Cutler's ability. If Cutler allows him to. The Lions will win 5 games this year. They will continue to improve until eventually Favre retires and the Vikes go to the bottom of the list.

South:
New Orleans Saints
Atlanta Falcons
Carolina Panthers
Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Saints will win the division, go to the playoffs and that will be that. It is too hard to repeat in this league. Their defense was one of the worst in giving up points last season and they made no significant moves. That can't keep going on for long. The Falcons are right there with them but the Saint's offense will out gun Matt Ryan in the end. The Panthers are relying on Matt Moore and the two headed monster of DeAngelo Williams and John Stewart at running back. Steve Smith and his arm will be a worry as he has broken the same one twice. My Bucs will improve some and Josh Freeman will get another year of learning under his belt. I think the Panthers and the Bucs will be fighting it out for third place.

West:
Arizona Cardinals
San Francisco 49ers
Seattle Seahawks
St. Louis Rams

Easily the worst division in all of football. The Cardinals are on top because I really can't find any reason to put anyone else up there. Matt Linehart has done zippo to prove he is any good in the NFL and Larry Fitzgerald is going to be covered like a blanket. Will Steve Breston emerge as that second wide receiver to make plays? The Niners have HUGE questions at the QB position. Frank Gore is looking to take a nose dive this season but Mike Singeltary will have that D ready to go. I think the Pete Carroll experiment will be cool for a while, but there really is nothing there. Are you telling me that Matt Hassellback has something left in the tank? Nope. I feel bad for Steven Jackson. The guy gets the hell beat out of him, doesn't complain and comes to play every week. Too bad the Rams are 100 miles away from the playoffs. At least.
