Louisville Celebrates Hairbrush Abuse Awareness Day!

It's the University of Louisville's turn to celebrate Senior Day against the Providence Friars at 7:00 p.m. The marquee senior departing for the Cards is senior guard Preston Knowles. And I will give Knowles the credit he deserves. He was a two star recruit out of Kentucky and he ended up turning into the captain of a feel good overachieving team.

But I think he will be most remembered for the "Hairbrush Incident." Two summers ago Preston was at his girlfriend's parents house in Bullitt County (going to Bullitt County was his first mistake). The details are murky but this is what we know: something happened and many believe that Preston's lady friend took his hairbrush and would not give it back. They began to argue and when it escalated into a verbally abusive argument, the girl's father stepped in.

And that's when things really took off. The verbally abusive argument turned into a physically abusive argument and Preston punched the old man in the face several times. Charges were dropped and Pitino did not suspend his player for any games for physically assaulting another human being. Because, honestly, Pitino has no room to pass judgement on these non-basketball morality issues.

Preston and the Cards face up against a reeling Providence team in the 1,000th game at the Yum! Center this season. After the Friars defeated Louisville and Villanova in back to back games, they have been beaten like Preston's former future father in law. They have lost the last 7 out of 8 games and have lost 6 straight. Including a loss to DePaul. Yes, they lost to DePaul.

The Friars' only big gun is Senior Marshon Brooks. He averages 25 points a game, 7 rebounds and 2 assists. After Brooks nobody on the team is averaging double digits besides freshman guard Gerard Coleman.

The Friars were able to slow the Cards down to a crawl and took away the three in the previous game in Rhode Island. The only way they can win is if they duplicate this on the road and if Louisville totally looks past them to the final game of the season at West Virginia. I don't think this happens.

Louisville 75-Providence 62

Have a Happy Hairbrush Abuse Awareness Day!
