Kentucky looks to cause SEC Knight-mares

With the announcement of 75% of the 2009-2010 Kentucky Wildcats leaving the team, ok Mrs. Patterson, "expected" to leave the team. 4:00pm Wednesday marks a key milestone for optimism in next year's season.

Brandon Knight, the Gatorade Player of the Year, McDonald's All-American, and Junior National Select Team member, has been rumored for months to be leaning towards the Cats. Several sources, according the Miami Herald, are now running with the story that says Knight is Bluegrass bound.

Knight would immediately step into a starting role after All-American, All-SEC, Freshmen of the Year, John Wall's departure for the NBA.

We'll be covering Knight's press conference Wednesday at 4:00pm (ESPNU)

  1. While Wednesday is two days away, can we get some discussion on the recent weekend activities of both Cards and Cats?

The good: Terrence Williams became the first Nets rookie to record a triple double since 2001, and almost got a second one on Saturday.

The bad: UK assistant coach/player pimp just got busted for his 4th DUI. Is drinking and driving encouraged down in Lexington?

  2. I posted the Strickland story.

    How about this:
The good: Enes Kanter is going to be a beast at UK.

The bad: Nobody cares what Terrence Williams is or is not doing as a member of the Nets.

  3. We could also cover the pending Sypher trial that will begin in June. Expect wall to wall coverage on that one.

  4. Okay, then why even mention TWill in any earlier posts then? I'm just saying that he posted a triple double in the NB frickin' A, but according to you, no one cares. But, let me guess, the minute John Wall or Cousins gets one next year, you'll talk about what an amazing feat that is, and that those guys are incredible.

Additionally, you state that the Strickland DUI isn't that bad, and you have to compare it to Pitino's situation. Are you forgetting about Sutton and Gillispie and their similar issues? Oh wait, it's at UK, so it's no big deal.

You talk on here all day and night about the good with UK, but the bad stuff gets a sliver of mention? Maybe, instead of getting off on Enes Kanter and the potential 2010 class, you could address the underlying issues down in Lexington.

  5. As an author on this site, I care very much about T-Will and his accomplishments with the Nets.

  6. Underlying issues? One DUI by an assistant coach is considered an underlying issue? The reason I said it wasn't a big deal is because he is an ASSISSTANT and not the HEAD coach. If it was Calipari then of course it would be a big deal. Would you have really cared if Walter McCarty got a DUI? Probably not.

When Gillispie got picked up for a DUI he was no longer the head coach at Kentucky.

AS for Kanter, maybe when Louisville has a decent recruit come in and actually play then you can get off on him too.

And why does nobody care about what Terrence Williams is doing? It's because he plays for the worst team in the NB Frickin' A. If he was doing that on the Spurs, the Cavs, the Lakers or any of the other teams that matter in the NBA then maybe people would care. Jodie Meeks has had a string of good games lately but he plays for the Sixers. Who cares about the Sixers?

T-Ferg- Maybe you should write a story about it.

  7. A triple double on the Nets should be a bigger deal than one for the Lakers, Celtics, Cavs, etc because you play with less talented guys. If he had Garnett, Pierce, James, Bryant, Odom, etc to throw to, he'd probably have many more double-digit assist games.

However, please refrain from commenting if Wall gets a triple double on the crappy Nets next year because it won't mean anything.

UK hired a multiple-DUI wife beater as an assistant because he has recruiting ties. When you have a Win-at-all-costs mentality, everything else gets overlooked, I guess.

  9. Strickland is such a great guy to have on staff. Let's keep him around if he keeps bringing in top high school recruits:

"Strickland's rap sheet as an NBA player included multiple arrests for assault, three DUI busts, an indecent exposure charge, disorderly conduct on U Street, ripping a gash in a teammate's forehead in a hotel room brouhaha, and, best of all, an indictment for allegedly KO’ing a waitress in the parking lot of a T.G.I. Friday's in Bowie."

But, I guess this is no big deal.

  10. If Pitino can stay at UofL after aborting my baby, then Strickland should be able to stay at UK for being awesome.

  11. PAMB, you're a dumbass. I state factual information, but you'd rather side with a crazy gold-digger? That's fine and all, but what are you going to say when Calipari drops that ass like a $2 hooker once trouble starts brewing?

  12. I probably won't care if Calipari 'drops that ass' because it's just a game. This game will never bring back my baby that Pitino paid to off though. :(

  13. Dunkface: Let's talk integrity and "win at all costs". Pitnio has a pretty bad rap sheet, publicly embarassed his family and his employer, is going to be involved in a trial that is going to be a media circus costing me and you millions of tax dollars, basically told any news media or fans that disagreed with him to screw off in a press conference and then he gets a 4 year extension. Why was he given the extension? Because Tom Jurich felt like being nice to Rick Pitino? No, because Tom Jurich wants to win and he feels (wrongly) that Rick Pitino gives him the best chance to win basketball games.

And he's the head coach of the team, not an assistant coach,THE head coach. So I guess Pitno get's a pass becuase he is Louisville's coach and anything being said or written about him is unfair. But an assistant coach at UK get's a DUI while coaching there it is the end of the world and there are "underlying" issues in Lexington. To me your logic is extremely flawed.

Next time you talk about the lack of "integrity" at UK and their "win at all costs" attitude, please make sure to look at your own University.

  14. It should be noted that Pitino is going to be a witness "in a trial that is going to be a media circus costing me and you millions of tax dollars." Not trying to defend his sexual proclivities, but it should be noted that Pitino is the victim in an extortion case.

    ReplyDelete
  15. True T-Ferg, I am not denying that he is the victim him but it was his own actions that put the wheels into motion.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I'm sure there are a lot of court cases where you can claim that the victim put the wheels into motion. You can talk about his morals all you want, but you can't say that this trial is his fault.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'm not saying it is his fault, I'm just saying that his actions put the wheels in motion. If he had never doen what he did that night then none of this would have happened. He is at fault for making a poor decision not for having Sypher try to pry money out of him.
