It's official. The Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert is a Michigan State alum and is in love with Izzo. The Cavaliers have offered the job of head coach to Izzo. No details of the deal have been released and there has been no word from Izzo or from the Michigan State athletic department.
Izzo's name was linked to the Oregon job earlier this year but he did not take it. Coaching in the NBA is a whole different animal all-together. As I said earlier, this can be seen as an attempt to hire a big name coach in order to get LeBron James to stay in the Cleve. Izzo has no NBA head coaching experience but he is held in high regard in the college ranks and he is arguably the best coach in the NCAA.
