Louisville to the SEC? It could happen!

The football gods may be smiling down on Cards and Cats fans alike. With all of the conference realignment talk going on, the SEC has remained fairly quiet. The thinking is that the football superpower is waiting to see what shakes out between the Big 10, the Big 12 and the Pac 10. The latest news in all of this drama is that the Pac 10 is getting ready to make a huge power grab and will make offers to six Big 12 teams to come over to the Pac 10.

The Big 10 has been talking for a couple of months now about getting a couple of teams from the Big East and a couple of teams from the Big 12 to join their conference. What about the leftovers? Louisville is expected to be a leftover, as is West Virginia and South Florida. The SEC may offer spots to these teams as well as teams from the ACC such as Clemson and Florida State.

Can you imagine Louisville and Kentucky being in the same conference? ESPN and other television outlets will be drooling over the prospect of an SEC version on Duke vs. North Carolina. The basketball rivalry will be ratcheted up to a level that has not been seen before.

And as for football, let's just say that Louisville fans will finally get a taste of what we Kentucky fans have been talking about for years: the SEC is the best conference when it comes to football. We will finally be able to see if Louisville can handle playing with the big boys when it comes to football.

All of this is speculation, but I for one hopes that it happens. No more of this bogus notion of cheering for your conference against the opposing team. It will be all out war and an all out hatefest.
