Tom Jurich Speaks and Nobody Listens

HAHAHAHA! Hey Denny, remember when I fired you and hired Rick Pitino! That was hilarious! Thanks for our school's only national championships in anything!

Tom Jurich has been hailed as a genius at the University of Louisville. And why shouldn't he? As the athletic director at UofL he has hired guys like Bobby Petrino and Rick Pitino. He got the Cards to rise the conference ladder from CUSA to the Big East. He has seen one BCS bowl victory, one Final Four and a couple of entries into the College World Series. He even got a beautiful new arena built in downtown Louisville.

He can also been seen as a dope. He did hire Steve Kragthorpe. He just gave Rick Pitino a contract extension despite a sex scandal and a total drop off in talent level and an ass kicking at the hands of John Calipari. He also ok'd the Papa John's expansion which is now seen as a major blunder considering the suckness that is the UofL football program.

Now the "Best AD in America" is looking like his Cards my be left at the alter. Multiple Big East teams are looking to go to the Big 10 and there are rumors that there may be some BE teams headed to the SEC. There is also the major exodus from the Big 12 to the Pac 10 and the Big 10. The University of Louisville has not been a team that has been mentioned in hardly any of these rumors.

Odd for the "Best College Sports Town in America" to be left out in the cold. Monster Mash did an excellent job earlier of outlining the reasons behind Louisville being on the outside looking in. Jurich has made some statements and he sounds whiny, sad, disillusioned and jealous. Here are some highlights:

  • "It's the first time in my career we can't be proactive. We don't know where the first domino is going to be...all we can do is take care of ourselves." (sad)
  • "I still want to see what the Pac 10 does cause I don't believe it. I don't see any advantage to them going to 16 teams." (jealous/whiny)
  • "We've built a comprehensive athletic department and we've had success across the board. I think we're attractive to anyone." (disillusioned)

If you were really attractive, Tom, then one of the major players would be asking for your services. The truth is you aren't attractive to anyone. It looks as if Louisville will be in the scrap heap which is where they belong. The whole department needs to quit labeling themselves as "the best" at everything and face the facts. Maybe they can rejoin CUSA or reactivate the Metro Conference!
