UofL Football Players Already Talking Smack

The back of Randall Cobb's jersey is a familiar sight to Cardinal football players.

Randall Cobb tweeted that he heard that an unnamed Cardinal football player was going to break his legs when the Cats and Cards play in August. Not a smart move. Cobb's response was pretty much "Bring it on".

Louisville has lost to Kentucky three straight years, have not gone to a bowl game in three straight years, and have the same awful team that they had last year. They have no business A). Talking any kind of smack or B). Threatening the health of an opponent.

Smack talk is part of the game. I get it and I have talked plenty of smack in my day, but to actually threaten to physically harm someone and jeopardize his career is bogus. This unnamed player just opened up a hornet's nest. Cobb is unquestionably the best player on either team. To give this uber-motivated guy any more motivation is just plain stupid. I am sure Joker Phillips will have plenty to say about this in his pre-game speech.

You can bet that Charlie Strong was probably not very happy with the comments. The last thing he needs is for his players to make bonehead remarks for the UK bulletin board. He needs to win his first game against the Cats in order to establish himself in Louisville.

A heated rivalry has become an inferno.
