Don't look now, but....

It appears that the Cardinal Express may be back sooner than later! Boogiewoogie commented in a post a couple weeks back about how Charlie Strong has not registered even a blip on the college football radar, despite what Cardinal fans think.

I beg to differ son.

In the past week, U of L has picked up two commitments that any team in the mighty SEC would love to have. First there was Demar Dorsey, the kid who originally committed to Michigan but was denied admission. In addition to the Cards, other teams waiting with open arms for this kid were Florida, USC, Tennessee, and Miami, among others. Dorsey was quoted as picking the Cards because,

"It's the beginning of a new era building up a program."

According to ESPN's rankings, Dorsey was the highest rated 2010 recruit not just in Michigan's class, but in the entire Big 10.

Then, news broke today that USC starting linebacker Jordan Campbell is transferring to U of L. Per his Twitter account, Campbell said,

"Coming 2 play ball at the university of louisville coach strong is about 2 bring back football in the state of kentucky."

Campbell was a 4 star inside linebacker in 2007, and was ranked 3rd at his position.

Both of these kids will be eligible to play for the Cards next season, and both will provide an immediate boost to the defense.

You wanna know what the best news is here? Coach Strong's just getting started. Give him a full year of coaching and recruiting, and I'm excited to see how high they can go.

Cat fans, are you scared yet?

  1. By next season, I hope you mean THIS coming season, because that is when they will be able to play. Dorsey never actually set foot on Michigan's campus, and Campbell is able to play immediately because of the sanctions USC is facing. Juniors and Seniors are being allowed to transfer without having to sit out. Even better (or worse, depending on how you look at it) is that Campbell actually had U of L on his radar before he signed with USC. He was recruited by Petrino, but visited under that other coach. Wonder why he didn't actually come? The good thing is, we have him now!

  2. This is a big deal. Charlie Strong has gotten two great defensive prospects. There still needs to be some work done on the O-line, which was one of the worst in the Big East, and who is going to throw the ball? I will give him credit though, those issues should be addressed in the next few years.

As for Dorsey, I hope you can handle a real "thug",on the team. There was a reason he didn't set foot on Michigan's campus and that reason was because of some major legal issues. I hope Charlie's "Strong" personality can set this kid straight or he may see a jail cell before he sees the field.

  3. Dorsey's "major legal issues" were all dismissed. The reason he didn't make it to Michigan was because after their sanctions they didn't want anyone even remotely close to a risk to take a chance on. This kid was the best prospect in the whole Big 10, he's gonna be a force. Cards have a couple nice qb prospects coming in as freshmen, and I really think Froman will do a decent job starting...he completed over 60% of his passes last season. The BIGGEST need still remains at D-Line I think.
