Kentucky Basketball News: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

The Good: Patrick Patterson worked out with the Indiana Pacers on Monday and was extremely impressive. Some highlights were his much improved jump shot, in which he gives the credit to John Calipari and his staff, and his extreme confidence in answering questions from the media after the workouts. Larry Bird is a very image conscious GM and Patterson has the goods that Bird is looking for. Patterson is smart, personable and honest. The Pacers have the 10th pick in the draft and would be a good home for PPatt. Black Kool-Aid has been one of the biggest surprises in the pre-draft workouts so far and could give the Cats 3 picks in the top ten. As long as our man Boogie doesn't blow it in that one-on-one game against Favors.

The Bad: Ex-Wildcat great Antoine Walker could face 12 years in prison due to felony charges for not paying back $1 million he owes to various casinos. According to a report, Walker has not made any progress in repaying his debts and is flat broke. His chances of restarting his NBA career are slim to none. The man known for his shimmy has little to dance about these days. It's said to see a NCAA champion, NBA All Star and NBA world champion fall so hard.

The Ugly: Eric Blesoe's high school grades will be investigated by the Superintendent of schools in Birmingham, Alabama. Ok, it's actually not as ugly as it sounds. The SI thinks that everything is on the up and up but there needs to be further investigating. The reason I label this as ugly is because we UK fans are paranoid by nature and anything that has to do with the words "eligibility" and "transcripts" makes us a little jumpy. This story is sticking around and has staying power.

Extra Ugly: Sports Illustrated interviewed Washington Huskies point guard Isiah Thomas at a point guard camp that is put on by Chris Paul. Thomas talks about how he was rubbed the wrong way by the defections of Enes Kanter and Terrence Jones. At first I thought the kid was just full of sour grapes, but then I read onward. Apparently the day before Jones chose UK he was at the University of Washington hanging out and playing ball. Thomas and the rest of his teammates felt comforted by this and were completely shocked when Jones turned around and chose the Cats the next day. Ouch. Thomas went on to say how he hopes to play the Wildcats in the Maui Invitational so he could mess with Jones the whole game. I hope your wish is granted Thomas because what UK is going to do to you will be ugly.
