Big News Monday: Ray-Ray, Rondo and Izzo, oh my!

There is all kinds of big news today so let's not waste any time:

  • The Boston Celtics bounced back and won game 2 in L.A. last night behind the shooting of Ray Allen (32 points) and the dominance of Rajon Rondo (19 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists). Rondo had his fourth triple-double of this post season and Allen broke an NBA Finals record by hitting 8 three pointers in one game. Boston is heading back home and plays again tomorrow night at 9 p.m.

  • There are reports that the Cleveland Cavaliers have made an offer to Tom Izzo to come and coach LeBron James. Izzo has repeatedly denied any interest in coaching in the NBA but this could be what the Cavs need to keep James around, although I am not sure if a college coach that has never coached at the next level is the answer to LeBron's prayers. At least it's not a Calipari rumor today! More on this as it develops...

  • Continuing with the James rumors, Tom Thibodeau has been hired as the new head coach of the Bulls. The Celtics defensive specialist and assistant coach has said to be a favorite of LeBron James and the hiring of Thibodeau is seen as a gesture to LeBron.

  • The Pac 10 is looking to expand the conference by six more teams. The conference has given their commissioner permission to look towards expansion and has 6 Big 12 teams in their sights: Texas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and Colorado. The Big 10 has made it clear that they want Texas, so we may have a shoot out at the OK Corral. Texas has also talked about going independent. So what will happen to the Big 12? Only time will tell.

  • The baseball Cardinals dropped a game to Vanderbilt yesterday 7-0. The Louisville faithful have already crowned the Cards the champs, so they need to put their plans for the victory parade on hold until the Cards get past the Commodores. This is the SEC that we are talking about here, one of the most powerful conferences when it comes to college baseball. Look for Vandy to give the Cards the upset when the two teams play again.

I would like to personally thank members of the Sportsthat staff for giving me an awesome bachelor party. Nashville will never be the same. Special thanks to Mike Washington and Nick Warren.
