Potential Bad News for the Cats: TMZ Celebrity Edition

Mel Gibson has officially gone nutso-bananas.

Maybe I'm confused but I am pretty sure that TMZ.com is a website dedicated solely to celebrity and celebrity scandal. Riddle me this: why is TMZ reporting an NCAA investigation into the University of Kentucky? Is this because of all of the celebs that attend basketball games? Is it because John Calipari made a statement that DeMarcus Cousins will one day win the Academy Award for best actor? Or is it that pending John Wall/Stepehen Strasburg buddy cop movie that I am currently writing?

Regardless of why it's there, it's there. According to the "story" the NCAA is investigating whether or not a recent player had an agent since his senior year in high school. It also states that the NCAA is interested in four players, two just drafted and two current players. I am interested in seeing how this all plays out, obviously.

Let's stick with this celebrity theme! Here is some celebrity news:

  • Mel Gibson does it again! St. Mel is in a custody dispute with his former girlfriend/mistress over a baby girl they had together. She taped conversations with Mel in which he says that he is "going to burn" her house to the ground and "the way that you are dressed will get you raped by a pack of n#$@*^rs". Whoops! It looks like that racist rant that Gibson went on and blamed the Jews for all of the wars in the world was not an isolated incident. It would be safe to say that his career is officially over and I am glad it is.

  • Steve Carrell is leaving The Office. This sucks extremely bad but the show has kind of been on the downslide and I think he has realized that not much more can be done with the show. There is a good article detailing what the show must do in order to keep the show entertaining and funny without Michael Scott.

That's all I have for celebrity news. Those were the only two things that I could find that are mildly entertaining or amusing.

Update: Brazil just lost to the Netherlands if anyone cares.

  1. I'm not sure why, but for some reason TMZ has over the past year or so started reporting and actually breaking sports stories...I forget which one but they did break a mildly significant one a few months ago before anyone else...somehow they are "in the know" in sports sometimes.

Still though, it's freaking TMZ, and I wouldn't put much stock into anything until one of the bigger names picks up the story...

  2. True. But the Pitino scandal transcends sports!

  3. I wasn't talking Pitino scandal...it was Roethlisberger or the USC story or something like that...they have a sports division now since they got bought out by Warner I believe. Most of the stuff they report now is legit, so there may be something to this in the future...
