John Calipari's Remarks Still Drawing Fire

This is the only known picture of a person making a deal with Satan. According to some.
I have already written a post about what I thought of John Calipari saying that last Thursday's NBA draft was the "biggest night in the history of the program", so I'm not going to bore you with my thoughts a second time.

The aftershocks of Cal's overzealous statement are still being felt a week later. Rick Bozich wrote an article in the Louisville Courier-Journal that outlines his thoughts on the matter, stating that the 1992 game against Duke was a bigger deal and The Unforgettables were a much better "team" than the 2009 squad.

Bozich doesn't blast Calipari or this past year's team. That's not his point. He is waxing poetic about the illustrious past of that legendary UK team and imploring us not to forget them. He states that he understands how big of a night it was for recruits and the future of the program, but he doesn't want to forget the past. I agree with Mr. Bozich on that point.

And then there is this article by some guy named Jeff Neuman from Realclearsports.com. He does personally attack Cal, calling him the Anti-Christ. He blasts Calipari for taking advantage of kids and then leading them to the NBA like an evil Pied-Piper. Yes, because helping kids realize their dreams is a terrible, awful, horrible, no good, very bad thing.

Why not make these poor kids stay at a university for four years while the NCAA, ESPN, the university, Nike, Reebok, Adidas and whoever else has the capacity to make money off of their talent go ahead and do so?

He also blasts Kentucky fans and it's tradition. He ends the article by slurping Coach K and the Dukies for "doing it the right way". He talks about how Duke won a title without one player that was drafted. Whoopty-freakin-doo. Wow. They did it without one single drafted NBA player. I think Coach K is actually Jesus Christ and Cal is the Devil. Let's have them fight on Pay-Per-View and whoever wins gets the souls of all of humanity.

I have gotten used to this silliness by now. Kentucky, as is every college program, is at the mercy of the one and done rule. There is little a team can do until it changes. It's not like Duke has never had a player get drafted: JJ Reddick, Carlos Boozer, Lual Deng, Jay Williams, Christian Laetner, just to name a few. And I am 100% sure some of them did not finish their four year degree at Duke.
