Ground Hog Day and Signing Day: A Perfect Storm of Fuzzy Critters and Football Players

This scene is from the classic Bill Murray film "Groundhog Day".

I've put last night behind me as best as I can. Let's get distracted by some football, shall we?

The big news of the day is the last minute switcharoo pulled by four star tight end and former UK commit Jon Davis. He spurned both the Cats and the Cards for Illinois. You read that correct. Illinois. But that's ok. We have plenty of other guys coming in and I'm glad he didn't go to Louisville.

Here are some other signees:

-Tight End Josh Forrest, Three Stars, Picked UK over Charlie Strong U
-Defensive Back Daylen Hall, Not Ranked, Comes out of St. X
-Corner Back Eric, Four Stars, Picked UK over Charlie Strong U
-Offensive Tackle Darrian Miller, Four Stars, Picked UK over Charlie Strong U and UT. Very Nice pick up.
-Offensive Tackel Zach West, Three Stars, Picked UK over UT
-Saftey Glenn Faulkner, Four Stars, Picked UK over Illinois. That's for Davis.
-Offensive Lineman James Elliott, Three Stars, Picked UK over Charlie Strong U and Michigan.
-Here is the entire list of all of the UK recruits that signed today. Pretty nice work.

Other than Davis the other big loss of the day was Lamar Dawson. The four star linebacker out of the Commonwealth had UK, USC, and UT on his final list and he went to play for a still under probation and Lane Kiffin coached USC Trojan team. But hey, it's Southern California. I hear the ladies are lovely there and the weather is warm all year round.

There are still a couple of guys that UK still wants to land. Wide receivers Daryl Collins and Bubba Tandy are still waiting to make their decision. Collins is a three star player that wanted to go to Alabama but the Tide asked him to gray shirt. He now is leaning toward UK.

Tandy is wavering between the Cats and Marshall.

Kentucky currently has the 31st ranked class in the country.

One Final Note: Darius Miller apologized to his teammates and the fans for losing the game last night by passing up that three via his Twitter. Darius, I'm not saying you lost the game, but yes you lost the game. I'm still not over that.

Puxatony Phil says Spring is coming early. That little fuzz ball better be correct. The entire country is an ice box. Happy Groundhog Day.

  1. Way to try to create some fake drama. Faulkner has been committed to KY for months, and didn't select them over Illinois as you make it seem.

He didn't even have an Illinois offer, so it isn't payback for Davis at all.

  2. I know this. I didn't create any fake drama or make it seem like anything. It was joke. I didn't say we "Stole him in the last minute over Illinois." Maybe you need a lesson in sarcasm.

And when you have an offer from School A and an offer from School B, and you choose School A, then you chose School A over School B. Emaphasis on the word "over".
