Sallie and Dieng both had the grades and are class academic guys. Sallie just didn't graduate during the summer like expected and Dieng had issues with his African transcript. Sallie will be a college graduate next semester and Dieng scored a 31 on his ACT and had near a 4.0 GPA in high school.

UK's team GPA was not impressive last year. The boost that Wall's GPA gave the team's GPA only says that the majority of the team was really slacking. Louisville had a team GPA of 3.0. I agree that coaches recruit athletes and not students, but questionable recruits and suspect grades or test scores are becoming a yearly topic for Cal.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08149635130151866947noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3776355734419994333.post-23103579068453321912010-10-15T23:27:36.416-04:002010-10-15T23:27:36.416-04:00If Cal is a cancer then Pitino must be AIDS. Looks like Ricky P is doing a stand up job with getting class academic guys.

Wall had a 3.4 GPA and our newest point guard, Brandon Knight, graduated with a 4.3 GPA and could graduate in 2 years from college because of all of the college credit he received from high school.

But let's face facts. Basketball coaches don't recruit for grades, they recruit for talent on the court.James Streblehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10620624023551692517noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3776355734419994333.post-56874254205833281702010-10-15T15:21:27.303-04:002010-10-15T15:21:27.303-04:00I have a question. I read back in the spring that 2 UK players had GPAs lower than 1.8 and would have been ineligible in the spring, but they were exempt from that rule because they were 1st year players...the rule doesn't go into effect until the players 2nd year. If Orton, who didn't finish the semester, was one of those guys, wouldn't Dodson have to be the other? We know it wasn't Wall, Boogie, and Hood. Cal said Bledsoe was elgible for next season had he stayed. That only leaves Dodson. Dodson leaving the teams tells me he wasn't academically eligible to compete. I think that if Cal had an option, he would have kept and played Dodson in a second. Cal is not the stand up guy that you're making him out to be Boogiewoogie. Cal is the cancer.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08149635130151866947noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3776355734419994333.post-15452811432898229782010-10-15T12:12:48.505-04:002010-10-15T12:12:48.505-04:00But Cal has no standards, blah, blah, blah, he rec...But Cal has no standards, blah, blah, blah, he recruits thugs and lets them run wild, blah, blah, blah, but it's ok if we get a guy that ruptures a woman's spine because Ricky P is infallable, blah, blah, blah...Typical UofL fan response.

The good thing is that Cal stuck to his guns and did not allow Dodson back on the team before this happened. My guess is that DD has been a cancer all along and Cal saw something like this coming all the while.James Streblehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10620624023551692517noreply@blogger.com
